Surf & Spa Moments 2 days

Kilometer after kilometer of coastline and a great selection of both spa and surf – perfect for beginners and seasoned riders alike… Combine two of Halland’s loveliest traditions and the result is the coziest late-summer weekend.

Day 1: Check-in, Spa & Sunset Swim

Check in at a spa for maximum recharging ahead of tomorrow’s surf. Swim, dine, relax, repeat. Slot in an evening dip in the sea at sunset between treatments and pool time. At Falkenberg strandbad you’ll find both evening spa and day spa, so it works just as well to check in on Friday right after work as it does on Saturday.

Day 2: Surf, SUP, Eats & Shopping

Let the weather, wind, and perhaps a scheduled lesson set the pace for the day. Wind, waves, kite, or SUP – there’s always some form of surfing that matches the conditions. If you’re very dedicated and the conditions are good in the early morning, grab a quick breakfast and head straight to your surf spot.

The early birds can try a SUP-tour on the Suseån River just south of Falkenberg before lunch. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a simpler and cozier adventure. Equipment is provided on site, and after paddling through Amazon-like nature for about an hour and a half you’ll reach the sea. You can even have a picnic basket delivered there if you want… and yes — you will want that. Of course, you can also rent SUP boards in several places around Halland, at rivers, lakes and the sea. Check out Villa Surf Garden and Kite Kalle, for example.

SUP, stand up paddleboarding in Halland

After a food-nerd pizza lunch at Lilla Napoli in Falkenberg (reservations strongly recommended well in advance), the journey continues to Varberg where surfing – regardless of style or skill level – is very accessible. Wave surfing at Kåsa, windsurfing in Apelviken, SUP around the Cold Bath House, kite at Getterön… pick and choose. Book a try-out course and find a new passion.

If the wind has dropped or you’ve simply had your fill of surfing, round off the day with some shopping and great food in Varberg. Surfers is a legendary shop in the town center for anyone who loves surf, kite, SUP, and skate. Along Apelviken beach, you’ll find a string of lovely places to eat: Brittas strandveranda, Solviken, John's place, &Olles – there’s enough food and experiences here to last for days! If today’s surf session took place in Träslövsläge, the obvious choice is Joels Brygga, serving freshly caught crayfish right on the pier in the small fishing village. During the summer season, Kaffeboden is also open, located right next to the best rigging spot and the parking area – a popular hangout among surfers.

Where you spend the night is entirely a matter of taste. In Varberg, the spa resort tradition runs deep, and there are several popular spa hotels to choose from. Near Kåsa beach, you’ll find Varbergs Kusthotell, and in the town center, Varbergs Stadshotell with the popular Asia Spa at the top. In the mood to try something different? Check in at Hotell Gästis and rest your tired surf muscles downstairs in the “Lenin Bath.” Not staying overnight? Then finish your surf and spa weekend with one last sauna session at the iconic Varbergs Cold Bath House.
