The city park
Have you ever visited an award-winning park? Come to Laholm then. We have a city park that in 2013, won top honours as Sweden’s most beautiful newly built park. Naturally, this now attracts tourists who want to enjoy all the wonderful things the park has to offer. During the summer and autumn months, open guided tours are organized that will take you around the park’s and the various wooden sculptures that adorn it.

Toothpaste without fluoride, non-toxic, water-based nail polish, baby feeding bottles made from natural rubber – if you want anything that’s organic and natural, this store has to be on your ‘must visit’ list. Wildas Ekologiskt
Is located at Östertullsgatan 9 in Laholm and only stocks organic and locally produced goods along with some recycled items. You will find children’s clothing made from organic fabrics, knitwear, skincare products, chocolate, fruits, nuts and seeds and a lot of ceramics, wood art and paintings all produced by local craftsmen.
Teckningsmuseet in Laholm
The Teckningsmuseet or drawing art museum in Laholm is the only museum of art in Scandinavia, that showcases the work of Nordic and international artists. The museum is housed in Laholm’s old fire station. A new extension has been added that offers majestic views of the Lagan River. Their café has arguably the finest view in Laholm and serves coffee, tea, biscuits and fair trade chocolate. You can also purchase drawing materials like pens, crayons and sketch pads, and a range of art books here.
Eat well at Annabelle
Annabelle is arguably Laholm’s most popular eatery, situated in the city centre just off Hästtorget 6. The menu offers a mix of pizza, barbecue delicacies and plank steaks. They have a backyard bar that is open until late during the summer months. Annabelle’s wildly popular barbecue buffet is served here
Winding alleys and cobbled streets in Gamleby
Laholm’s medieval ancestry becomes obvious as you stroll across Gamleby, the old town. The old street grid and the haphazard town planning from the Middle Ages are still preserved. The houses are built in timber and brick, which is very typical for southern Halland, and it reflects how small towns that used to make a living off trade, craft and agriculture would look.
Freshly baked cakes at Conditori Cecil
You’ll still find Conditori Cecil in the middle of Stortorget just as it was when it first threw open its doors in 1946. Once you sample their fresh bread, cakes and pastries, it becomes easy to understand why this is a very popular place with both locals and visitors.
Salmon fishing in Lagan
After a day out on town, it can be very relaxing to take a walk down to Lagan to try out salmon fishing. Fishing is a very popular pastime with both visitors and locals. Children under the age of 18 fish for free; adults need to purchase is a fishing license which is easily available at the Laholm tourist office. In autumn, particularly, Lagan offers super fishing with many salmon catches of 7 to 8 kgs. Occasionally, salmon up to 14 kg have been reported.
Enjoy fresh fish at the smokehouse
When in Laholm, you absolutely have to taste the fresh, local fish and a perfect place for this is Rökeriet, or the smoke house, which is conveniently situated along Lagan river and Laholm’s marina. They have a restaurant where you can sit down and enjoy your meal and a store where you can purchase a variety of fresh and smoked fish. They take great pride in using their own smokers for smoking. Depending on the season, they offer a variety of smoked fish and seafood in various forms including shrimps, mackerel, flounder, clams, mussels and herring fillets. They also smoke locally produced meat products such as chicken, pork and deer
The central meeting place
At Stortorget in Laholm, you’ll find the magnificent town hall with a history that goes back to the late 18th century. As in so many other small towns and cities, Stortorget or the ‘big square’ provides a lovely venue to meet friends and hang out. The centrepiece of the square is the Lagafontänen or the Lagan fountain, which was constructed in 1933. There are several cafes and restaurants around the square where you can get a drink and a meal and just indulge in some old-fashioned people-watching.
Laholmsrundan is a lovely cycling trail of just over 60 kms, which starts and ends in Laholm. From the centre you head out to the coast to enjoy the coastal landscape along the west coast’s longest sandy beach. The trail then vends its way into the hinterland, carries on around the northern slope of Hallandsåsen and finally finishes in Laholm. And there’s no better way to round off your biking adventure than with a relaxing cup of coffee or a leisurely meal at any of Lahalm’s fine cafes and restaurants.
