Hindströmsgården, which is the oldest wooden house in the inner city, is an absolute must-see. Another of Falkenberg’s oldest houses, the Falkman House, was a inn and tavern in the 18th century and the tradition of serving good food carries on today in the form of the Annas Bakgård Café. At the eastern fortress of Tullbron lie the ruins of the Falkenberg castle, built in the late 12th century It was the northern outpost of the Danish kingdom. The castle was destroyed in 1356, rebuilt, then finally burned to the ground and destroyed by Engelbrekt’s peasant army in 1434. The castle ruins were excavated in 1885.
