Between 1750 and 1850 many southern Sweden farmhouses were decorated with beautifully painted bonads or tapestries. Inspiration was taken from medieval church art, and in Unnaryd's town park stands Sweden's only museum to showcase this unique art form.
Most of the tapestries are well-preserved and are an integral part of Sweden’s art heritage. They give us keen insights into how the farmers of the past lived. The Hembygdsparken is surrounded by beautiful scenery and beautiful promenades, and in the park there are also several other interesting buildings. Drop by for an afternoon and get a peek into Swedish folk art from the 18th and 19th century.
