The Boat and Maritime Museum is located in the church village of Onsala. On display you will find pictures, paintings, photographs and illustrations of vessels, crew, captains’ logs and navigation aids.
Northern Halland and Onsala have a rich and colourful maritime history. In the early 1700s, pirates freely roamed the waters off the coast of halland. (Notorious among them were two brothers Lars and Christian Gathenhielm.) The boat hall has old sailing boats and rowing boats on display, as well as old engines, tools and fishing equipment. If the sea holds fascination for you, this should top your list of must-see places in Halland.
